Self Defence Systems – combining several martial arts into one.

The striking and grappling styles of martial arts are becoming increasingly popular. Many see the need for a well-rounded skill set. To achieve that, you must have knowledge in both types. Yet, training them separately is not enough. You must also learn the connection and transition between the ground and standing up.

Mr Marshall merged his knowledge gained in TKD and BJJ. He also included influences from other martial arts. With this, he created a new syllabus called “Self Defence Systems” (SDS). This programme teaches students various martial arts techniques. It focuses on self defence moves and modern teaching approaches. Like with most martial arts, there is a belt ranking system. But, the formal event for student progression is not used until Grading for Black Belt.

Self Defence Systems Belts

There are 8 Colour Belt Grades and 8 Black Belt Grades in the SDS Rankings. A student must be at least 12 years old to train. To achieve Black Belt, the student must be at least 15. See Ranking System Table below.
